Family Time

I invited the family over for an early dinner on Saturday. Looks like I'm going to have a party of eight dropping by. It will be fun to see everyone, but the work that happens between the invitation and the event is...work. I'm sure we'll have a great time, I just hope I'll have the energy left to enjoy it :-)

  1. I probably shouldn´t meddle as I don´t really know you, but from what you write right now I wonder whether this is just temporarily, or if you could be on your way to a burn-out syndrome?
Just ignore this if I am far out, but I tried it some years ago, and it took several months before I realized something was wrong and that I had to do something about it.

  2. Working in a stressful occupation, at a challenging school site, means that burnout is always something one has to guard against. That's why I make such an effort to have family time (which is difficult because the family is so spread out), social time, constant reflection, and me time.

You are right in your description about not realizing what is happening until it has been going on for a while. I have a great support system of family and friends that help me get the forest into perspective when the trees become overwhelming.

Thanks for the concern. I appreciate it.
